Cards Challenge

Some Prickly Cactus Love

December 10, 2016

Happy Saturday,

Dropping in to show my entry into this week sketch challenge over on My Favorite Things Blog.

Copic Markers Tall Cactus: YR04, YR07, YG25, G24, G28 Short Cactus: YG03, YG17, YG67, R14, R24, R39 Mountain: YR12, YR15, YR18 Sky: BG000, B00. B01 Ground: YG91, E30, E43, E23, E33, E53, W2

I started this project by making light pencil lines on my panel marking dead center, one inch on both sides of that line and then a half inch from the one inch lines.  Using Sweet Succulents I stamped the first cactus on the bottom half inch line to make it appear closest, the second cactus is on the one inch line using WPlus9’s Beanstalk ink since I knew that I was going to color them green with Copic markers.  I then sketched out a mountain range and a gully coming to the front.  Once I had everything sketched out, I colored making sure to not go over the pencil lines so they could be erased when finished.  Using a die from Blueprint 29 and Electric red cardstock the mat is cut and the focal panel is slightly smaller than it.  A little sour apple cardstock was die cut with the mini fringe die and adhered to the mat.  The sentiment is heat embossed with Judikins white embossing powder on some Orange Fizz cardstock and cut with one of the elements from the same blueprint set.  The sentiment strip is trimmed just a bit and some faux stitch lines are added to the left end to match the right with a white geI pen.  The complete focal panel is on an A2 size of Biscotti cardstock.

That’s all from me, have a great day
