Cards Challenge

Birthday Balloons

August 23, 2015

I have returned home and I think my mojo has left for good.  It is a shame that when you are away for so long it seems to take forever to get back in the mindset to get going again.  That is why I love the challenges found online and this week’s sketch to catch my eye was the one for The Paper Player’s.  This is a card that has no coloring at all on it for me, so this was definitely something different for me.

Paper Players 259

I sponged some Abandoned Coral on some white card stock and used the larger birthday balloon die to cut it out.  Once it was cut I took Barn Door around the edges.  I did the same process for the smaller balloon using Wild Honey and Spiced Marmalade.  To add a little interest to the balloons I inked up the Hero Arts Life of the Party stamp using Simon Says Stamp White pigment ink and then put them off to the side to dry.  For the two banners I did a little direct to paper with Wplus9’s Falling Star dye ink and then cut them out.  Once they were dry I grabbed Simon Says Stamp Love This stamp set and stamped “Happy Birthday” with some Ranger Black ink.  The balloons were tied off with some American Crafts Black & White twine. All of the elements were placed on a piece of Simple Stories Summer Vibe 6 x 6 paper from this month’s Simon Says Stamp kit.
