Wild watercolor thanks

January 2, 2016

On Splitcoast Stampers today the Inspiration Challenge was to tour an Etsy Shoppe called The Wildlands.  This shop is full of Watercolor prints of different animals and the items listed are absolutely beautiful.  After browsing the site, I was inspired to create my project by the giraffe shown below.

Giraffe Nursery Art - Girl Nursery Art - Giraffe Decor - Animal Art Print           Watercolored Thank You

To create this card, I chose a giraffe from the Silhouette cut file from contact paper using my Silhouette Curio.  I placed the contact paper over a piece of Tim Holtz watercolor paper and made sure it was completely flat against the paper.  I filled in the shape using the Kuretake watercolor and then let it dry.  To get the sentiment in just the right spot I used my MISTI since I knew I would have to stamp more than once because of the textured watercolor paper.  I then flicked some more color across the final panel and cut it and the mat using the large rectangle from each of the Blueprint set listed below.  The entire panel was then mounted on a piece of A2 size Gina K’s grass green cardstock.

Supplies Used:

Dies: MFT Blueprint #18 and #25;

Paper: Tim Holtz Watercolor Paper, Gina K Grass Green and Onyx Black;

Inks: Versafine Onyx Black

Accessories: Kuretake Watercolor, Contact Paper, Heat Gun, Silhouette Curio, MISTI, Silhouette Giraffe set cut file.

    Amazing card! Love how the water colored giraffe turned out, and the stars are a great addition!

    How fun! I re-read your explanation of your process- a great idea to use a cut file as a stencil for your giraffe. Great card!

      Thanks, one of my crafty goals for this year is to incorporate more silhouette items into my projects. I have to start using what I have:-)
