Elf at work getting ready for Santa’s big night

November 28, 2015

Happy Saturday after Thanksgiving.  Did everyone get their Black Friday on, are you ready for Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday?  Myself I did very little shopping, I picked up a new chair at Office Depot because my other one had a wheel pop-off and it would not stay even after my husband used some famous Gorilla Glue on it.  After I completed my next to nothing shopping I decided to sit down and create an entry for this week’s Freshly Made Sketch. The elf is from My Favorite Things Santa Elves set, stamped using Memento Tuxedo Black ink on a piece of my Hammermill #100.

Christmas card using My Favorite Things Santa Elves set colored with copic markers

Once stamped I colored it with Copic markers and fussy cut it out. I took a black memento marker around the edges of the image so none of that pesky white was showing and added some rouge liquid pearls for the holly. I cut a circle out from some contact paper and then placed it on top of a piece of Whisper White cardstock by Stampin Up. With the Whisper White mask I smudged some cotton candy gelato on a dry baby wipe and then smoothed it across the opening on the mask. I found this gave a much smoother look instead of showing the lines created when applied directly to the paper. My Favorite Things basic stitch die was used to give some interest around the edges of the white panel and the banner created using the banner die from MFT’s blueprint 25, heat embossed using the sentiment from MFT’s Trim the tree set and Judikin’s White embossing powder. The white panel placed on a piece of red cardstock and then placed on the card base. The banner placed on the white panel and I popped my elf on top of it and added some snowflakes I had in my stash. Well I think that’s about it for this project with a very clean look to it I think. This project is an A2 size card on a base of Bazzill Basics Card Shoppe Sugar Wafer Cardstock.

I like how you have lined that cute elf up at the end of the long sentiment on the banner. I love the special touches like the sponged circle to highlight him and the stitched edges. Thank you for playing along with us at Freshly Made Sketches.
